The reason why i had joined the gym was mainly to get myself into shape. I really lacked motivation to go to the gym so i decided i needed to get a trainer. Getting a trainer was the perfect opportunity to get myself into the best shape i have ever been, and it had really paid off.
My trainer Angie had motivated me more than i ever thought she would, whether it was having to get up for a early 7am run before work or going to the gym after a long day at work. Knowing that i would see and feel great results in the end kept me going.
My trainer also taught me a lot about diet which played a huge role in my success, i owe at least 50% of my success to my diet. My diet has been the cleanest it has ever been it has also increased my energy level.
I had been training with my trainer for about 2 years and in those years i have learned that going to the gym doesn’t have to be boring. I learned different styles of training and learned how to make the most efficient workouts. I also learned how to time my meals with my workouts and to get the most out of everything i ate.
Angie has inspired me to take the steps necessary to live a happy healthier lifestyle .
Two of our friends highly recommended Custom Conditioning. So my husband John and I decided to check the place out in the springtime. We are so happy that we did!
Both of us were taken with the enthusiasm and knowledge of Paul and Louie and their desire to provide us with a trainer that suited our needs, personality and flexibility of hours since we hoped to come in together and work out.
Within 4 months I have dropped two sizes in clothing, my cardio fitness has moved from below average to above average and my core strength has significantly increased.
Amanda, my trainer, has the ability to break down the exercises in a manner that helps me understand and correct my posture, breathing, perform the exercises and have fun all at the same time! Thank you Amanda.
I find I have become more resistant to illnesses, calmer, more focused at work and stronger in daily tasks since joining Custom Conditioning.
Come and experience it for yourself.
I have been an active member at a gym since 1998, basically working out on my own. I would be stretches without going especially during the summer. I would start again in September, it’s so hard to stay motivated by yourself.
About 8 years ago all hell broke loose, I was doing renovation work and I hurt my back I had a herniated disc, the pain was unbelievable. It would take me 20 minutes just to get out of bed, getting out of the car hurt so much I would cry.
I tried everything, physio, saw every doctor, after 4 months I was ready for anything even surgery the orthopaedic surgeon told me it would heal by itself, that it normally takes ……..a year ( gasp!).
It took a year.
I then decided I would strengthen my core so as to never have to go thru this pain again.
This is when I met Paul Scully at Goodlife, with his training and coaching I was able to totally get rid of my back pain. With Paul’s advice and regular training back pain is a thing of the past.
Paul cares about his clients, it’s a vocation for him, he does not give up on you, he is always there to nudge you on.
I would like to tell you a little anecdote, one day I was cleaning windows with a friend & he calls me out from another room saying he has a problem with a window, it’s stuck he can’t remove it & he is not a small guy, I come along & lift the window as if it’s nothing, needless to say he was in shock & joined a gym the next day with a trainer. You don’t realize how much you build strength over time when you exercise regularly, or how much muscle mass you lose if you don’t
My name is Oxana, my story begins from the moment I arrived in Montreal from Russia with my family in 1995. We started a new life here in Canada, where life is beautiful, with multiple cultures, languages, education and where sports and fitness are a way of life.
I have been a member of several fitness clubs. I experimented with different fitness activities, such as yoga, spinning, squash, tennis and personal training as well. I always enjoyed spending time there. While working out I developed both back and knee pain. I had to stop training for a period of time. The time away from the gym affected my motivation and eventually I began losing my interest in going to my gym.
I decided to go to a join a gym close to my home named Goodlife Fitness. I was skeptical about personal training based on past experiences. So I participated in classes such as spinning and yoga and felt pretty good. I realized that I wanted more than just feeling good, I wanted to be fit and trim down. So I decided to try a personal trainer again. That s when I started training with Paul. I started with 12 sessions, then another 24 sessions. After 3 months of really challenging training, fitness became an even bigger priority in my life. It has now been 2 years since Paul and I started training together and I have had great results.
The training process is not always smooth and easy. We all have our moments of low energy and motivation. I am glad that Paul understands my needs, we work as a team! Step by step I am climbing the pedestal because there is someone who believes in me, who strives to make my workouts pleasant and enjoyable and gives you courage all the time.
Thank you Paul!
For over 15 years I have trained using various different regimens. Home gym, DVD training programs, books.
Throughout these experiences I have constantly found that I have reached a plateau concerning my fitness level and overall goals set.
Now, for the first time in over 15 years I can proudly say that I have broken through those barriers and I could not have done this without the help and support of the team at Custom Conditioning. Specifically my personal trainer John Wade.
Custom Conditioning is one of those hidden gems in the West-Island that I was lucky enough to stumble upon. The staff is incredibly supportive, friendly and always willing to help.
The trainers are all experienced and really pay close attention to your needs and goals, while offering their own suggestions on how you can improve technique and overall fitness levels.
If you are someone looking to get serious about health & fitness, I would recommend stopping by and making an appointment. You will not be disappointed!
It was with some trepidation that I entered Custom conditioning’s doors in mid-January 2010. Although I was very serious about getting in shape, I really had no idea about what to do at a gym and found them extremely intimidating. I briefly joined two gyms in the last 5 years, but I had no success; I felt out of place and had no idea what to do. So, my plan that day was stick my head in to quietly check it out. I was immediately and cheerfully greeted at the door, and Paul and Louis introduced themselves with earnest, firm handshakes. I was made to feel at ease from the moment on. I left with an appointment for an evaluation. After a year, I am by no means a veteran, but can honestly say that I am succeeding in meeting my fitness goals and I feel awesome. I am certain that I would not have been able to do this without the support of my personal trainer, Paul, and the philosophy and positivity of everyone at Custom Conditioning.
I joined Custom Conditioning Health and Fitness in 2012 and have been there about two years. Although I had previous gym experience, it was my first time working regularly with a personal trainer. The experience has been transformative. Unquestionably the best outcome is not just the weight loss, strength and energy gain, and better endurance but rather the life-style change. This is not an exercise binge like previous attempts. Tara and the whole staff at Custom Conditioning have made me actually enjoy pushing myself. I find that through the attentiveness of my trainer and the constant technical information about exercises and diet that I have developed a genuine curiosity and appreciation for personal fitness. Since joining I have lost 18% of my body weight. And my target weight and personal appearance are now within grasp. But those targets are actually now secondary. Discovering what I can do with my own strength is the next mountain. Thanks Tara! Thanks C.C.
Menopause-that did it. I no longer recognized my body. Weight gain, mood swings and hot flashes; is this my future? I had always been health conscious, worked out, took care of myself, but now nothing seemed to make a difference. Ok, time to get a trainer, someone who knows what he is doing, because certainly I didn’t seem to. Into my life came Paul Scully! Even when you don’t know what is good for you, he does. He doesn’t allow you to give up, it is not in his vocabulary. No matter what happens in your life, physical limitations, medical issues, he always finds a way to work around them, finding alternate ways to continue to allow you to progress in your workouts. He motivates, pushes, and cares. Here I am almost ten years later, still “pumping Iron” working out, continuing to strive to be the best “me” I can be. I can honestly say, that without Paul’s determination to never let me give up, I would not be where I am today.
I am a 66 year old man and in December of 2008 I had a kidney removed due to a malignant tumor. It was at that time that I decided it was time to take better care of my body and try to get into better shape.
Although I skied and played golf regularly, I had never really trained in a gym before and was therefore somewhat apprehensive about beginning a fitness regime. However, Angie quickly put those fears to rest. She developed programs for me that were both interesting and effective. Angie was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain in detail the benefits of each exercise. In addition, she included enough variety that the programs never got boring or monotonous.
Working with Angie I was not only able to reach my weight loss goals, but I became enthusiastic about training and have never felt better in my life. Thank you, Angie.
I joined custom Conditioning in March 2009 and have been working out with Amanda twice a week. My goal was to tone up and lose a few pounds.
I was always a member at a local gym, but somehow I had lost my motivation and stopped going. A year later, I realized I had let myself go. The result was 10 extra pounds. I had lost a lot of muscle mass and I was not feeling to good about myself. I was tired all of the time, I was uncomfortable in my clothes and I could no longer run for 5 minutes without being totally out of breath.
In eight months, I have dropped the extra 10 pounds and have improved the strength in my core, legs and arms. Amanda knows how to push me to get the best results, never compromising safety or my ability to do certain exercises. I have back troubles and often Amanda will discuss my program and my health issues with other trainers and tailor my program so I can progress without causing more injuries to my back.
I enjoy working with a personal trainer and the benefits of one –on- one training are amazing. It’s worth the time and money if you want to feel and look better. Custom conditioning offers a unique and individualized program for anyone who wants to change and improve their physical ability and well being.
Take it from me, you’re worth it!
Writing this bio presented more challenging than I anticipated, excuses came quickly to my mind but explanations weren’t as forthcoming. Why had I gained so much weight and why was I not “able“ to lose it?
I became a stereotype when I had children and thought that what made you a better mother was never leaving their side. I was worried that taking time to myself would be viewed as selfish, but I was wrong. Taking care of myself physically not only strengthened my body, but also became a strengthening of my mind.
I never would have been able to come to this conclusion on my own though. It was through a good friend that I was able to open up and accept the fact that things happen out of my control but what I can control is my body and how it makes me feel. She sat with me, she messaged me, she counselled me and she told me to suck it up when I needed tough love…there is nobody I would have rather had at my side. I feel blessed to call Tara Warner my friend and my personal trainer.
Together we made a plan, a realistic plan. A plan that a working mother could follow. She set me up to succeed, and celebrated every accomplishment by my side. What I thought I was worried about was failure. Although maybe what I was really worried about was succeeding and in turn realizing that the only thing holding me back all these years was myself and my fear.
Custom Conditioning is not like any place I`ve ever trained in, it became my family. I looked forward to ending my day there, sharing my successes and even `failures` with the other members because what Custom Conditioning helped me realize is that they weren’t `failures` they were just speed bumps; they may slow me down but I always got over them.
Tara broke my plan down to weekly goals, allowing me to focus on each day rather than the overwhelming number I had in my head, I never felt I was disappointing her or myself because everything was achievable. She mixed up cardio and weight training all the while keeping an eye on my nutrition. For the first few months I stepped on the scale backwards, refusing to face that dreaded number, although Tara kept reminding me that it wasn’t about the number; I needed to change my focus.
I did and I reached my goal, surpassed it in fact and have never felt better. It has been more than a physical transformation for me. I realized things about myself that I never knew and I accepted things about myself that I was afraid to acknowledge. I am a stronger woman and mother because of my journey. There are not enough words to express my gratitude towards Tara Warner and my family at Custom Conditioning.
I have been going to one gym or another for the past 25 years. I have managed to attend a gym either near were I worked in downtown Montreal or in the suburbs near where I live in Kirkland. I have even attended gyms in the United Sates when I spent my winters there from 2006 to 2009. And in all cases I have hired personal trainers to help me progress through my workout routines.
I became aware of Custom Conditioning in December 2009 when they had their Open House which I attended. I knew the personal trainers beforehand as they worked at the gym I was a member of but this gym closed in September 2009. I had hoped they would be opening a gym of their own with a different slant on personal training. And I also knew that one day I would join and participate in what they had to offer. However, I didn’t think I would join in July 2010 as it was right smack dab in the middle of golf season. As I am a member of a private club, I golf most every day and assumed the burden on my time would be such that I wouldn’t be able to afford the time to play golf and have a meaningful workout routine. Well I couldn’t have been proven more wrong. My initial goal was to improve my flexibility as I am so right handed that my body doesn’t turn equally both left and right. This has caused me problems in the past requiring physiotherapy. So with flexibility in mind I signed up for core conditioning, strength and aerobic conditioning. I have “found” the hour on days I train so it’s not such a big deal. I play golf in the morning (I’m an Early Bird) and train in the afternoons. It works for me.
I have trained with Paul Scully in the past at the other gym and now work with Louis Larouche. Both I find, push you to your limits and let me tell you, you’d be surprised just how far those limits can be. The best part of being a member of Custom Conditioning, aside from the friendly atmosphere, is the boutique-like quality they can offer. This is no cookie cutter gym where you have to conform to their regiments and routines. The trainers have the knowledge and resources to provide custom-made programs to suit your needs. Strength training, core conditioning, flexibility routines and other programs, from helping youths pick up where our school system has failed, to providing seniors with the ability to work out in an uncrowded place. All in an environment that promotes personalized service.
For me I have seen the change in body size (more muscle, less fat), more flexibility and better overall conditioning. Since I still continue playing golf (I am writing this November 8, 2010) as well as hockey three times a week, I can verify the results. So, a whole-hearted endorsement of Custom Conditioning!
Best thing I’ve done for myself! Custom Conditioning offers a friendly, comfortable atmosphere for all ages and fitness levels. My trainer Alex is great! He goes the extra mile to ensure my program is effective, motivating and that I am doing the exercises correctly. With his help, I am well on my way to achieving my goals! (Age 50, member since 2014)
At age 48 I decided to get serious about getting fit. I had started and stopped over the last 10 years with no results. I decided to join a gym to get in shape and felt it would be best to start with a trainer. At first I didn’t think I would take full advantage of a trainer however I quickly realized that without Alex I would not have recovered from my injuries as quickly as I did.
Great trainers – Awesome place! (Age 50 Member since 2014)
I never had a problem doing cardio but weight training was my fear and weakness. I decided to try the 20 session package. Since training with Alex I have grown to love working out and am pleased to see my marshmallow arms have turned into some kind of muscle tone 😃. His sessions are different everytime which keeps me on my toes as I never know what to expect.(however I always know the Jacobs ladder will make an appearance 😩)I have reached many personal records with Alex and commend him on his expertise and professionalism.
Can’t wait to see what’s next!!!
